Complex Behavior

There can be behaviors where the reasons behind the behavior are difficult to understand or that people find hard to accept. These behaviors usually break unwritten social rules and can be confronting to others. Most of patients showing complex behaviors have a difficult time adjusting in the society or they simply won’t want to be mixed in a public space for fear of rejection.

Complex behaviors tend to be anti-social as most of the symptoms come with a bad language, violence or destruction. The signs to watch for are physical or verbal aggression, self-injury, property destruction, disinhibited and impulsive behavior, hyper-sexuality, impulsivity and aggressive behavior. A quality health care is required to help patients showing the above mentioned symptoms.

Challenging behavior is often as a result of the parts of our brains involved with our emotions, our ability to control impulses, and our self-awareness and ability to monitor and change our behavior, not working as well as they should. As we grow and mature toward adulthood, we learn these skills over many years. Many people with challenging behavior may need to relearn many of these skills, and in some cases may be unable to do so if their self-awareness is affected severely.
